PvP Arena Primer

The ranked arena pairs trainers in real time and tracks Elo across seasonal ladders. Use the guides below to learn the rules, protect your rating, and squeeze the most value out of every match.

Season Basics

These reminders explain how seasons progress and how your rating turns into rewards.

  • A new ranked season spins up as soon as the previous one wraps. Your first match in a fresh season drops you on the ladder right away.
  • Tier thresholds follow Elo. Wins push you up, losses can knock you down, so keep battling until you land the placement you want before the season closes.
  • Season summaries show the exact rewards for each tier, including cosmetics and rare Pokémon. Give them a quick look before you commit to a grind.

Match Rules

Every arena duel follows these rules. Breaking them triggers an automatic loss, so keep them in mind while battling.

  • Each turn needs a choice within 30 seconds. Letting the timer expire forfeits the match to your opponent.
  • If you disconnect, you have 60 seconds to reconnect before the match locks in as a disconnect loss.
  • Moves are validated against your Pokémon’s current kit. Illegal picks get blocked, so make sure your team is move-ready before queueing.

Preparation Tips

Use these strategies before queueing to stay ahead of the meta and keep your streaks alive.

  • Lock in a balanced roster with coverage for common meta threats. The arena uses the same battle engine as raids and the tower, so PvE practice still counts.
  • Scout opponents using the pre-battle overlay. Visible team history helps you plan leads or switch options before the first turn.
  • Track your progress on the public leaderboard. Only the top 200 players show, so peek often if you want a showcase spot.

Reward Notes

Finish the season strong so you snag everything you earn from the ladder.

  • Ranked rewards drop when the season ends. Stay active through the final week to defend your placement.
  • Galaxy and Shiny vouchers pop up in top-tier reward pools from time to time, rotating alongside cosmetic prizes.
  • Battle pass points land after every completed PvP match, making arena sessions a steady way to push the seasonal track.
