Pokemon Aura SEASON 5 - New Players and Polishing

In Season 5 and onwards we are focusing more on the polish of the game. There will be no massive content drop this mid season, but a more distributed drop schedule as QoL updates are ready for the next few months. Full details on the initial Season 5 Update below.

Battle Pass: GalaxyCubchoo Season 5 Battle Pass special Pokémon is:

GalaxyCubchoo

Reach Tier 30 to earn it. Ways to push the pass:

  • Win battles

  • Spend money in the shop. Every $1000 is +2 point

  • Do Story Board quests to gain Battle Pass points

If you want GalaxyCubchoo, just keep playing and doing those quests and you will get there.

GalaxyCubchoo

GalaxyBeartic

Mega Fragment Odds Increased

I heard you on Mega Fragments being too rare. So:

  • The drop rate for Mega Fragments has been increased

  • They should still feel rare, but not "never appearing"

  • You still need 10 fragments for a Pokémon to craft its Mega Stone and permanently Mega evolve it

You should start to see more progress toward Megas without them flooding the game.

Trainer Levels

TRAINER LEVEL IS LIVE 🎓

Trainer Level is a new, account-wide progression system that basically tracks how much you play the game and keeps going forever. As you play, you earn Training Points (TP), and your total TP decides your Trainer Level. Higher level, more stuff unlocked.

Where You Can See It

You can see your Trainer Level in a few places:

  • Home: Under your Trainer Card (shows Trainer Lv.)

  • Gyms: In the Base panel (also Trainer Lv.)

How Leveling Works

Trainer Level is based on your lifetime TP. It never goes down.

  • Total TP needed to reach level L:
    TP_TOTAL(L) = 25 * (L - 1) * L / 2

  • TP needed to go from level L -> L+1:
    TP_NEXT(L) = 25 * L

So yeah, each level takes a bit more TP than the last.

How You Earn Training Points (TP)

You earn TP just by playing, and also from specific actions.

1) Passive active playtime TP

  • +3 TP per active minute

  • Only counts when you are actually doing things (battles, navigation, interacting)

  • Background idle polling does not count

  • Only once per minute

2) Action rewards (bonus TP on top of passive)

Battles (once per fully finished battle):

  • Wild: +12 win / +3 loss

  • NPC: +14 win / +4 loss

  • Trainer: +16 win / +5 loss

  • Gym / Tower / Stronghold: +20 win / +7 loss

  • Raid: +22 win / +8 loss

  • League: +24 win / +9 loss

Aura Expeditions

  • Start expedition: +3 TP

  • Claim expedition: +8 TP plus a small bonus based on how long it ran

Mining

  • Deplete a node: +2

  • Queue a smelt: +2

  • Claim a smelt: +5

  • Forge action: +3

  • Open a geode: +1

Quests

  • Daily quest claim: +10

  • Story quest step claim: +10

  • Legendary claim: +15

Feature Unlock Levels (For Newer Players)

Some features are now gated behind Trainer Levels so new players do not get overwhelmed on day 1.

  • Level 5: Silph Co.

  • Level 8: Team Aura Takeover

  • Level 10: Aurora Exchange

  • Level 12: Auctions

  • Level 15: PvP

Locked page experience:

  • Locked links show a little lock icon and are slightly greyed out

  • You can still click them to preview the page

  • You will see a lock screen that tells you what Trainer Level you need

  • Levels for unlocks and other unlockables in the RPG are subject to change based on trainer level

Existing Players

  • Everyone already has a Trainer Level

  • Existing accounts were seeded based on past activity, so most of you who have been active for a while should already have pretty much everything unlocked

New Onboarding

Along with Trainer Levels, a more guided onboarding including the new recent features is out for new players.

  • Better tutorial steps

  • More actionable "do this next" type guidance

The focus going forward for the game is polishing and helping out new players get started.

Season 5 and 6 Focus

Previous seasons were very content heavy. At this point, there is a lot for mid and late game players, but new players do not have a clear path. Over the next two months, the focus will be:

  • QoL updates

  • Bug fixes

  • Retention focused features, especially for new players

  • Internal tools for staff to keep the game safer and easier to manage

Goal is to keep growing the community by making Aura feel like a premium game with strong day 0 to day 7 retention, while still keeping things fun for veterans. Because of this focus:

  • There will be no big mid season content drop this month. All QoL updates this month will drop when ready

  • But love might be in the air soon anyway

Staff Update (Promotion):

Derextreme, Pokemon Aura's first Moderator has been promoted to Super Moderator

Over the last few months he has:

  • Shown really strong judgement and reliability as a mod

  • Stayed on top of issues quickly and calmly

  • Helped keep me on track with fixes, additions and general support

  • Written a ton of guides that will be used by new players

  • Helped keep the game safe from bad actors

With all of that in mind, he has been promoted to Super Moderator. That means:

  • He now has additional game tools and powers

  • He can handle most issues that pop up without waiting on me

For anyone wondering about staff ranks, the path looks like:

Moderator → Super Moderator → Game Master (GM)

Looking Ahead

Aura is slowly moving from "just a project" toward an actual business, and there have been a lot of talks in the background about partners working with the game long term. I am really excited to see where things go from here and I appreciate everyone who keeps playing, testing and giving feedback. Season 5 is about tightening things up, making the game smoother and making sure new players actually stick. Then we can go even bigger again.
