One of the core gameplay loops is training. Whether you're a collector or a battler you will need to know how to effectively train to progress. This guide aims to teach you ways to maximize your time on the game so you can complete your goals.
Most people use training accounts when they get started. Gyms are also viable until you earn some money to buy TMs and more Pokeballs.
What is a training account? How do I use it? Which accounts are training accounts? A training account has only Blissey(s) in its roster, and they generally have no damaging moves learned. To use these accounts you want to follow these steps:
First we need to navigate to the "View A Profile" button on the left hand menu, or the "Hamburger" button on the top left for mobile users.

Now we need to enter the Username or ID number for the training account we want to use. Either option will work. Use whatever is easier for you to remember.
Current list of training accounts:
DerexGym - ID 1232 - Blissey level 1000 - No damaging moves
CardGym - ID 2686 - Blissey level 700, Blissey level 650, Blissey level 650, Blissey level 650 - Has Pound
Fubuki - ID 1285 - Blissey level 500 - No damaging moves
takeyourhopsoff - ID 271 - Blissey level 350 - No damaging moves, but has charm(lowers phys atk)
free - ID 1374 - Blissey level 334 - No damaging moves, but has charm(lowers phys atk)
Yonderd The 2nd - ID 1144 - Blissey level 147 - No damaging moves
The most effective tactic is to fight a roster that has only one pokemon, and one that you can defeat in one attack(Referred to as OHKO from now on). The more attacks it takes you to defeat an opponent is the less rewards you end up with overall.
For Example
Trainer account's Blissey gives 500 exp per ko
Top rank trainer's Mewtwo gives 1000 exp per ko
Top trainer may seem like a great option because it gives twice as much exp, but let's look at this in practice.
You use 5 attacks to ko Mewtwo. This is 6 clicks per battle. 5 for your attacks and 1 to restart
You earn:
1000 exp
1 Battle Pass point
20 Team points
400 coins
You use 1 attack to ko Blissey. This is 2 clicks per battle. We will calculate 6 clicks to match the Mewtwo battle.
You earn:
1500 exp
3 Battle pass points
60 Team points
650+ coins
Alternatively, a gym that has multiple Pokemon could potentially earn you more exp over time, but you will also be gaining a lot less rewards. A roster of 6 will give the same battle pass and team points as a roster of 1. Coins will be slightly higher than the single battle, but still a loss overall. These rewards assuming you're not a higher level than your opponent. That is something to consider when training. You get more team point and coins if your opponent is higher level. Battle pass points remain the same regardless of level or opponent count.
Let's look at Blissey's defensive stats, and see how we can optimize this strategy further.
Hp - 255
Defense - 10
Special Defense - 135
Weakness - Fighting
Ineffective - Ghost
By looking at this we can see that our most effective option will be physical fighting type attacks. A strong attacker with a high powered stab physical attack will also perform very well. Let's look at some of the popular options people use as their main. You can absolutely use something else as well. It all depends on your goal, but something with weaker attack will have to level higher to one OHKO.
Rampardos
Slaking(Until abilities are implemented)
Haxorus(Good option for official gyms)
Conkeldurr
Salamence(Good option for official gyms)
Metagross
Dragonite(Good option for official gyms)
Heracross
These are not the only high physical attackers. Just popular mons, and not overly difficult to obtain.
Variants are something you will want to obtain if you plan to train on the official gyms and follow the NG(New Game) path.
Current Variants:
Shiny - +7 to all base stats. So ShinyRampardos for example would have 172 base attack instead of 165
Galaxy - +12 to all base stats. ShinyRampardos would have 177 base attack instead of 165
Official Gyms and the NG path are your endgame. It's an infinite scaling loop that increases the levels of the gyms/leagues every time you complete a "loop". A loop being collecting all 68 badges, and then defeating all 9 champions. Training on the gyms will be similar to Blissey training. You want to train on a gym that you can OHKO all their mons. This is especially important as your resource gains will be slowing down.
The reason dragons are recommended is because of Dragon Dance. Stat boosting moves will be important to help you clear the gyms and leagues at higher levels. They also have very high attack stats that let them hit hard with multiple attack types.
Regardless of what your goals are in the game, I hope this guide helps you to be more successful at them. If you feel like anything else needs to be explained more, or something added to the guide, feel free to contact Derextreme on discord or direct in game message.
See you in the next guide
