In this guide we're going to go over how to complete all the Kanto story quests, and how to build a team to take on the battles you will face.
Building a Pokemon team for Aura quests:
The harder battles will scale based on the highest level in your team. So to combat that you are going to want bulky Pokemon or Pokemon that can buff themselves. There are many combinations that can be used. When I build a team I look up the move I want to base the build around, and then see which Pokemon able to learn that move have a suitable moveset to round it out. Ideally you want to boost both defenses and be able to heal. If you're unable to boost both defense, having a move that can lower the opposite attack stat can also work.(If you can't raise defense, then using something like Charm for example) Just be aware you may have to reapply that to multiple enemy Pokemon. Raising multiple stats or stages at once is very important. Your enemies will hit much harder being a higher level than you. Attack power isn't as important. Opponent's weakness isn't as important either. You want to make sure you can hit all pokemon types. So beware using normal, fighting, psychic, poison, etc that have types they can't hit if you're not using a second attack type.
Some useful moves you want to look for:
Cosmic Power
Bulk Up
Calm Mind
Iron Defense
Amnesia
Recover
Slack off
Roost
Charm
Double Team
Example Pokemon that I used during quests:
ShnyStarmie
Cosmic Power
Recover
Brine
Meteor Beam
There are many options that can work for this, and these Pokemon are also good to use in other areas of the game including Johto story quests, Stronghold, and roaming legend battles.
Legendary quests will be in a separate section below, but a lot of them can be taken on at the same time as the main story. The legendary quests are marked with the prerequisite story quest.
